<The Trajectory of Transparency.>

"You have now stepped on a portal!"
In fact, there was a portal installed in front of the door that you now walked through. And what if you stepped on it and ended up in a world that was different from reality?...
If something that would happen in a fantasy movie happened in real life, how would you react? Fantasy is often considered unrealistic when looking at reality and fantasy in opposition to each other. However, fantasy is based on reality and exists at the boundary between reality and reality. Fantasy stories are about something that could not or could have happened in real life. That is, they include events that may happen. The present, which seems solid and complete, is the result of the countless number of future cases of the past accidentally solidifying into one. The present becomes the past again and becomes an unknown area that is more inaccessible than the future.
Isn't the unit or rule of measuring something that seems to be given fairly a means designed to easily judge the things that cannot be measured? There were certainly moments when the existing grammar did not fit, such as the moment when the moment felt long, as if entering a door and arriving in a space where the times and places have changed. These moments are perceived as a hole between reality and unreality, and they should not be dismissed as just nihilistic. This becomes an opportunity to open the past and the future in a different direction in the reality that was believed to be solid.
A gap opens when my eyes and hands see small and unfamiliar symbols in a familiar world. The gaps that occur are transparent, but those that are transparent actually have depth.
In this exhibition, Oh Hyunji and Cho Hyeyun capture the gap that occurs in the real world where the possibilities are placed back and forth, drawing the transparent and deep trajectory of the small gaps that exist in between. And, in the meantime, several questions arise. What frames are we seeing the world in? Framing is a way of letting you see an event or person from an externally set perspective. When a new frame is faced, the context changes. This leads to a question about the basis that supports the framework of thinking and perception. Is the ground and stone on which I am standing hard? It has a hole and breaks easily, but it can be considered that the crack is intact. With these points floating in the present air, something thin connecting reality and fantasy separates the time and space we still stand in.
“당신은 지금 포탈을 밟았습니다!”
사실, 지금 당신이 지나온 문 앞에는 포탈(portal)이 설치되어 있었다. 그리고 당신이 그것을 밟아 현실과 다른 세계에오게된것이라면?...
만약 판타지 영화에서나 일어날 법한 일이 현실에서 발생한다면, 당신은 어떻게 반응할 것인가? 현실(reality)과 판타지(fantasy)를 서로의 대척점으로 바라볼 때, 판타지는 종종 비현실로 여겨진다. 그러나 판타지는 현실에 기반을 두고, 현실과 비현실의 경계에 존재한다. 공상의 이야기들은 현실에서 일어날 수 없었거나 일어날 수도 있었던 일에 관한 것이다. 즉, 일어날지도 모르는 사건들을 포함한다. 굳건하고 완전해 보이는 현재는 과거의 무수했던 미래의 경우의 수가 우연히 하나로 굳어진 결과이다. 현재는 또다시 과거가 되어 미래보다 접근할 수 없는 미지의 영역이 되기도 한다.
공평하게 주어지는 듯한 시간, 무언가를 재는 단위나 규칙들은 사실 잴 수 없는 것들을 쉽게 재단하도록 만들어진 수단이 아닐까. 찰나가 길게 느껴지는 순간, 어떤 문을 열고 들어가 시대와 장소가 바뀐 공간에 도착한 듯한 경험처럼, 기존의 문법이 들어맞지 않는 순간들은 분명 있었다. 이러한 순간들은 현실과 비현실 사이에 뚫린 구멍처럼 인식되며, 단지 허무맹랑한 것으로 치부될 것이 아니다. 이는 굳어져 있다 여겼던 현실에서 과거와 미래를 다른 방향으로 열어주는 기회가 된다.
익숙한 세계 속 작고 낯선 기호들을 나의 눈과 손이 확인할때, 틈이 열린다. 그렇게 발생하는 틈새는 투명하지만, 투명한 것에는 사실 깊이가 있다.
이번 전시에서 오현지와 조혜윤은 가능성이 앞뒤로 포진된 현실 가운데 발생하는 틈을 포착하여, 사이사이 존재하는 작은 틈들의 투명하고 깊은 궤적을 그려낸다. 그리고, 그 사이 여러 질문을 내비친다. 우리는 어떤 프레임(frame)으로 세상을 보고 있는가? 프레이밍(framing)은 외부에서 설정한 관점으로 사건이나 인물을 보게 하는 방법이다. 새로운 프레임을 대면, 맥락은 달라진다. 이는 사고와 인식의 틀을 지탱하는 기반에 대한 의문으로 이어진다. 내가 딛고 있는 이 땅과 돌은 단단하기만 할까. 구멍이 있고 쉽게 부서지지만, 균열이 드러난 상태가 온전한 것이다 여겨볼 수 있는 것이다. 이런 지점들을 현재의 허공에 띄워둔 채, 현실과 판타지를 잇는 얇은 무언가는 지금도 우리가 서있는 시공간을 가르고 있다.
