As we traverse the outskirts of the city, the electrification systems appear like veins, channeling energy to power homes, industries, and public spaces. Suspended on power poles, ceramic insulators glisten in clusters, quietly performing their task. Crafted from porcelain, these objects resist the flow of current, ensuring the integrity and safety of the entire network.

In the 21st century, our understanding of the natural world has advanced, separating the mythical from the tangible. Scientific discoveries have expanded our classification of life, bringing new realms into focus—bacteria, fungi, protozoa—and introducing an era where technological interventions blur the line between the organic and the artificial. From genetically engineered organisms to industrialized environments, the boundaries of what is natural are increasingly fluid, reflecting the hybrid nature of our current existence.

“Transmuted Separation” reimagines this intersection of nature, technology, and isolation through the metaphor of the ceramic insulator. Here  ordinary industrial objects take on new roles as symbol of division and transition. This exhibition reframes isolation not only as a boundary but as a conduit for change—an opportunity to re-examine how we navigate disconnection and interaction in our lives. By focusing on these objects,  Petr Kroschinsky prompts us to explore the duality of isolation, where separation can be both a hindrance and a catalyst for transformation.
